Willara Cultural Services

Training and Workshops

Are you interested in general and/or customised Aboriginal culture and/or cultural safety workshops or training to learn about Aboriginal history, society and culture?

Our training suite comprises experienced Aboriginal facilitators. We can customise face-to-face half and full-day workshops to suit the needs of learners from diverse backgrounds and are in the process of developing on-line learning modules.

We specialise in cultural safety training which involves learning about Aboriginal histories, societies and cultures as well as non-Aboriginal participants learning about how their power, privilege and biases influence the ways in which professional services are provided to Aboriginal peoples. The training is founded in mixed modes of learning including actionable strategies, reflective practice, case studies, mixed media, quizzes, peers review, decolonisation strategies, and effective communication methods.

The workshops or training are able to be customised to your particular area/s of interest. Workshops are intended to be of interest to both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal participants. This training is suitable for government departments, not-for-profit organisations, medical specialist colleges, universities, Aboriginal community organisations and programs, and is offered nationally.

We acknowledge the unceded sovereign Nations of Aboriginal peoples on whose land we live and work, and we honour our Elders—past and present. Living on colonised land, we recognise the strength and resilience of Aboriginal peoples, as well as the ongoing spiritual and cultural importance of the earth, oceans, stars, skies and all living beings central to our creation stories. Our ancestors continue to guide us as we navigate living between two worlds.
